Sportsmen’s Athletic Club 2026 Election Information:

According to our bylaws only “Eligible Members” may run for our Board. An Eligible Member is defined as being a General Member or Lifetime Member:

a) in good standing,

b) who has not been removed from any Board,

c) is not employed by the Club as either an employee or as a current contractor,

d) is not a Board Member of another social club,

e) is not a convicted felon, and

f) has been a member of the club for at least three years prior to election day.

Our current bylaws also require that anyone wishing to run for the Board who is not already a Board Member must obtain at least 20 Member signatures on nomination petitions and return them to the Election Committee. The window for collecting signatures is February 1 to March 1. Anyone wishing to run for the Board must authorize that a criminal background check be conducted.

An Election Committee has been formed — it consists of Board Members not up for election, and two Members from the club’s General Membership.

The Election Committee will review petitions to make sure that Candidate’s petitions have a sufficient number of Member signatures and will also review the Candidate’s status to determine if they fit the definition of an Eligible Member.

The Election Committee will publish the list of Candidates by March 20, and will oversee the election process and certify the election results. The elections this year are the first Sunday in May. The top four candidates will win a three-year term, the fifth candidate will win a two-year term.
